A broken process does not become better because it runs faster

Automation is a poor first move when the process changes every time, nobody owns the result, the source information is incomplete or unreliable, the task needs judgement that has not been reduced to safe rules, the workflow would handle sensitive information without suitable access controls, or the expected saving is smaller than the build and maintenance cost.

If the process is not ready, the first deliverable may be a simpler process map or a smaller proof of concept.

Automation may move personal or confidential information between tools. The scope should identify what enters the workflow, why it is needed, where it is stored, who may access it, how long it should remain, and what happens when access is removed.

We discuss practical data-minimisation and access choices during planning. Your business remains responsible for its legal duties, policies, lawful basis, and security requirements. Projects involving sensitive or regulated information may need advice from a qualified legal or security professional.
